I have the honour to report for your covering authority the grant to Mr. Tang Fan Shan an elder

of Tai Po Tau of 30,000 square feet of land half a mile

beyond Tai Po in the direction of Fan Ling for the same

purpose and on similar terms as the grant of land approved in

Viscount Harcourt's Despatch No. 121 of the 20th. May, 1914.

This area had been previously declared to

be a free canetery and has long been used for the storage of

some 600 burial urns and for numerous graves of persons who

were drowned in the big typhoon and other destitute persons

and Mr. Tang Fan Shan's primary object in securing the land

is to provide a suitable resting place for them.

In view of the small area involved I have

authorised the issue of the necessary lease and now ask for

your covering authority.
